Mount Rainier National Park Seeks Feedback on the Timed Entry Reservation Pilot ProgramMount Rainier National Park is inviting public feedback on its timed entry reservation system, introduced this summer to manage peak visitation in the Paradise and Sunrise Corridors. The pilot program, in effect until Labor Day 2024, aims to reduce crowding, enhance visitor experience, improve safety, and protect park resources.While comments on social media are welcome, please note that only those submitted through the official link will be included in the public input process. Mount Rainier National Park released attendance statistics for June 2024.With the new timed entry reservation program in effect from May 24 to September 2, 2024, many have been asking about Mount Rainier National Park attendance. The June stats show a 7.2% increase in recreation visitors compared to last year, with year-to-date numbers up 4.4%. Non-recreation visitors, including staff, volunteers, contractors, SAR teams, mountain climbing guides, vendors, research teams, and more, also surged by 32.2%. The significant 215.6% increase in White River (410 East) visitors is attributed to the seasonal opening of the Sunrise area. To view the full report, visit:https://lnkd.in/eMsNnkDY

Mount Rainier National Park requests visitors Recreate Responsibly during the annual Perseid meteor shower.Mount Rainier National Park reminds visitors to plan ahead, pack out trash, and stay on trails to protect fragile subalpine meadows. Damage from off-trail travel can take years to heal.The park offers exceptional night sky viewing. Follow guidelines to ensure a safe experience and protect park resources.Wear layers and bring a coat or blanket to stay warm.Respect park resources. Stay in parking lots or on trails. Do not spread blankets or set up chairs in meadows.Active stargazing is allowed, but overnight camping in vehicles is not. Exit the park after viewing.Drive carefully in parking lots; be mindful of others. Do not set up blankets or chairs in driving lanes.Pack out your trash. Overflowing receptacles can harm wildlife. Take trash home if needed.Pets are not permitted on park trails.A fire ban is in effect starting Aug. 10, 2024.Drones are prohibited within the park.Follow park rangers' directions to protect both visitors and resources.Turn off lights and electronic devices to improve night vision. Use red filters on flashlights to preserve night vision for everyone.“Mount Rainier’s night skies are a treasure. Please protect the park’s meadows by staying on trails and packing out trash,” said Superintendent Greg Dudgeon.Rangers at Paradise will host night sky programs from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, 10, and 11, 2024. The Sunrise area will close once the parking lot is full.Timed entry reservations for Paradise and Sunrise Corridors are in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sept. 2, 2024.
