First pregnancy, and I have 0 leakage from my boobs. I had heard multiple women that leaked or got a supply in while pregnant.
I’m extremely nervous as I really want to pump and be able to provide for my baby in that way. Has any one else had this experience of no milk? Did it come in after baby? Should I try to stimulate milk production?
Thanks in advance..❤️

No need to stimulate. Some women leak prior to having baby and some don’t. Both are totally normal. It has no indication on what your milk supply is going to be like. I didn’t leak at all before having my baby and had no issues breast feeding or pumping.

@Courtney-C,
you shouldn’t be trying to get colostrum out right now if you haven’t discussed with your dr. And nothing you do during pregnancy will change the outcome postpartum, you just have to wait and see. You can still produce without leaking, colostrum can be very thick and hard to express or pump out. My son wouldn’t latch at first and I had a heck of a time pumping colostrum. Your actual milk is triggered by the placenta detaching so lots of skin to skin and removing milk those first few days will call it in. My milk came in super hot third day pp because I was pumping almost hourly to syringe feed my son. We eventually established a good latch around 5 weeks and went on to breastfeed for a year and a half with very little issues. Had a bit of an oversupply as well and I never leaked my entire pregnancy

Leaking or not leaking during pregnancy has no relation to how your supply will look postpartum. You don’t have milk while pregnant either. Your milk comes in around 3-5 days after delivery. Right now and immediately after birth you have colostrum. Just because it doesn’t leak doesn’t mean it’s not being produced. Since you’re 35 weeks anyway, it’s too early to try and express regardless. Supply after birth is based off is supply and demand. The more you feed, the more the milk will come. Hope that helps :)

@justmovingthrough,
helps a ton!! I was discussing wanting to pump and someone literally said “oh honey you should be worried, you should be leaking and full by now” and I’ve been panicking ever since. So thank you!! I feel much better after you and others have commented.

Leaking/not leaking has zero indication on what you’re producing or what your supply will be like after you deliver. I never leaked and I went on to breastfeed for a year and a half with an oversupply. Do not attempt hand expressing or pumping without approval from your dr and truthfully even if they’re okay with it, nothing you do now during pregnancy will increase supply for after. When baby is born do lots of skin to skin, nurse on demand, and stay extra hydrated.

Im 3rd trimester and the thought is on my mind also! Some women swear by non alcoholic beer bc something to do with the yeast helping? I might try that bc I just kinda would feel better if I knew I leaked and everything was working properly before baby comes

I had zero leaked before birth (even with pumping around 39 weeks to try to kickstart labor!), and have successfully breastfed for over a year at this point. It’s totally normal to not leak and it’s zero indication of a poor milk supply. Remember, newborns have teeny tiny stomachs so they don’t need lots of milk in the beginning. You will have colostrum in the beginning and then your milk will come in. I know it’s hard, but trust your body that it’s doing exactly what it needs to be doing. You’ve got this

i didn't leak and still had colostrum on day one. technically your body is signaled to make milk when the placenta is removed so no worries !
